Sovis Optique (France) Commission Adelaide Engineering

Customer: Sovis Optique (France) is a manufacturer of Glass Window assemblies. They manufacture glass viewing areas which are compiled from one or several glass slabs of varying densities, encased in steel or cast iron housing and each complete unit can weigh up to 12 tons. Viewing areas can be up to 1.5m x 1.2m (5 feet by 4 feet) with an overall thickness of up to 1.5m (5 feet).
 
What was required: Sovis Optique needed to machine seven 5 ton cast window liners for NUVIA to be used in viewing stations in a new decommissioning ILW treatment facility at Sellafield. They needed a large universal CNC machine that could fit the 1500mm x 1500mm x 1200mm casting with a calibrated certificate.

Adelaide added value: The window liner was machined on our 6M CNC Elgamill. Working 24 hr shifts enabled us to machine the window liners on schedule and dispatch to Sellafield on time for the fitment into the wall. Delivering on time was crucial to keep the whole project running smoothly enabling other contractors to keep to their tight schedules.
